Do you work in sales or would you agree most things we do on a daily basis has something to do with sales? Today I want to show you how to close more sales and why you’re not doing anyone justice by not selling them your product or service.
Sales – Is NOT A Four Letter Word
Let me ask you a question how many of you hate selling? Be honest with yourself. Now I’m going to make this very clear. As an entrepreneur you are in sales.
You’re either attracting people to do what you want or you’re repelling them. If you are a parent you’re in sales. Why? Because you are selling them everyday. Veggie or a donut? That’s sales.
How many of you are married? Ok, that is sales. You’re selling to your spouse why they should be faithful to you. Everyday. If you’re a teacher you’re selling ideas.
There are four things you are selling. First, you could be selling a product. You could be selling a service. You could be selling an idea. Or you could be selling you.
If you’re single you are selling. And depending on how good a sales job you do will determine whether you’re going to get a date or not or if you’re going to get some “action” at the end of the date or not. So if you’re single you are definitely selling.
In most things we are selling all the time. Now my question is with sales when I say the word “sales” what comes to mind? Persuading, rejection, pressure, convincing.
Let me give you an example of how people think. There kid comes home from school and they yell out “mom dad I want to be a doctor”! The parents start cheering and they are all happy. Same kid comes home and yells out “mom dad I want to be a salesman”! What’s their reaction? Oh know, what did I do!!!!
So it’s very interesting how most people have this negative association with sales. But why? Why do people have such a negative association with sales?
Before we answer this question I want to give you my first lesson which is: You can’t help them if you don’t sell them. Ask yourself if you truly believe in your product and services. If you do then you’re morally obligated to sell your product and services. You’re morally obligated to push as hard as you can to pressure to use techniques to get them to buy.
If you’re selling crap then that’s a different story. Then I suggest you sell something else. Sell something you believe in. Sell something that makes you feel good. Sell something that will help them and enhance their lives.
You really can’t help them if you can’t sell them. How many of you have had this experience. You’re in a sales situation. You deliver your proposal or your message. You give your sales presentation and at the end they say very nice. I really liked what you had to say. But I have to think about it.
Let me ask you a question. Is their problem solved by not buying your product? Absolutely not. So they still have the same problem and they were not helped. Ok, so you gave them lots of good information but it didn’t do anything for them. They still have the problem.
So if you didn’t do everything possibly that you could to help them and sell them then you’re not serving anybody.
Lol great post Josh. You are so right we are doing sales every single day. Most people don’t even realize it. We start sales from the moment we are born it just changes over time. People get sold by their kids ever single day. I find it funny when I talk to prospects and they say oh I can’t sale or I don’t want to sale anything. It’s like really? You are already doing it why not get paid for it?
Or how about when someone recommends something like a movie or a great restaurant to eat it. They are giving out free advertisement and have no problem with it at all. It all boils down to we are doing sales every single day whether you realize it or not.
Great training, awesome blog, keeping rocking it out!
Thanks Dereco, glad you agree with my post 🙂 So many people make building an online business a lot harder than it really has to be. I was always told to KISS “Keep It Super Simple”! Have a great day…
