Two Factor Authentication – How To Set up 2FA with Online Accounts

Spread the love

If you joined an ICO or a cryptocurrency company two factor authentication or 2FA is very common for security reasons.

Basically you have to put in the code each time you login. If someone is trying to get into your account they basically would need access to your phone.

Let me show you step by step how to do this. And there really aren’t many steps. Remember most important thing in cryptocurrency or any of this online stuff. KEEP IT SIMPLE!!!

I’m a big advocate of keeping it simple so no reason to complicate the process.

Two Factor Authentication – Step #1

two factor authentication

Download a QR code on your phone. Most of us are using a smart phone and at this point most of us are familiar with apps. Just do a search for QR code reader. I personally use Google Authenticator.

How To Use 2FA – Scan QR Code

Open your app on phone. With Google Authenticator you click on the little plus sign upper right hand corner. Then click on scan barcode. Line up your phone with the QR code on computer and it will scan. Kind of like a scanner when u buy something at the store. Same thing. It will now put your code inside your app.

When you scan your codes will look something like this.

If you notice in the pic above each website you have setup with 2FA has it’s own number. So when you scan the QR code it runs in the app at all times. Even if you are not using the app.

For example, lets say you need your logging into your Trident account or another website you are using with 2FA. After  you login the website will ask for your 2FA code.

How To Use 2FA – Login

Just open Google Authenticator or whatever QR app scanner you are using. Type in the code it’s generating and type it into the website on your computer. Click Login and your done.
