Link Building Strategies – How to Use Footprints

building linksIf you’re looking for link building strategies for your new website you’ve come to the right place.  Here is another SEO tip that I have put together to help find extremely relevant backlinks.

Your probably asking yourself what are “footprints” and how is this going to help me build backlinks.  Simply put they are strings of text we will be using to find sites that run using specific software.  Simple.

In this example we are going to find sites “Powered by WordPress” in Google.  The way we do this is quite simple and also very powerful link building strategies.

Link Building Strategies Step 1

First thing you want to do is go to Google and find a bunch of WordPress websites.  Just type in “Powered by WordPress” in the search bar and wallah.  You now have 217 million results.  Google finds all websites that have the text “Powered by WordPress” somewhere on their blog.

Now this is the trick.  You don’t want to just post your link to any old website.  Whatever your niche you MUST be relevant.  So you want to get “more specific” and add a keyword to the mix.  So lets say your blog is about surfing we can find a whole bunch of WordPress powered blogs about surfing.  You would type it into the search like this:

link building Now you have a bunch of relevant websites that are in your particular niche.  So how can footprints help you to build backlinks?  Simple.  We are going to find specific websites that we know allow us to add a link somewhere on the site.

In most cases it can be found by clicking the “blog” tab at top of the website.  There are usually 10 or so posts on the first page click one.  At the bottom of the post you can leave comments.

NOTE:  Some blogs have different tabs so could vary.

When you find where to comment on the post you can leave your backlink 🙂

Link Building Strategies Step 2

Another seo link building strategy you can use with footprints is finding relevant forums which allow you to build links in your profile and also the signature section.  Check this out:

You probably don’t know this but there are quite a few website platforms that allow us to add your link in some way.  This takes some work but by using footprints you can easily find these sites and do it yourself.

You can also read my post on effective marketing strategies for lazy people and see where I talk about outsourcing.  If you don’t have a lot of time you can pay someone from Odesk or Fiverr that does Off Page SEO and they are very good.

I have actually compiled a list of footprints that will help you find popular platforms.  You will be amazed at how many will allow you to build a backlink on their website.  This is an extremely important step in your link building strategies.

Yes, relevance is so important as mentioned when it comes to SEO link building… in the past people looked at quantity. Now, too many people concentrate on ‘quality’ but without checking out the relevance of the referring domain

Hi Manish, remember there is no magic formula. There is no such thing as a “guru marketer”. All blogs start at 0 DA/PA. You have to work at it. The only way to increase DA and PA is to be consistent with your blogging each and every day. Make sure your posting content at least a few times per week. Set up “branded” social media accounts that are consistent with your blog (use same name if possible). Keep learning. Blogging is something you have to keep up with. It’s constantly changing. I can give your blog a check are you mindauthor.com ?
