Today we are going to focus on how to make your business successful and how to delegate tasks. Lets say you have this big task but you’re only terrible at a piece of it. Then you can do what you’re good at and delegate the small piece you’re terrible at. So why is this important?
How To Succeed In Business
Most people that run small successful businesses delegate most of their tasks. It’s just a part of business. Always remember one of the most important aspects which determines if you will succeed in business or not. These little tasks ad up. So if you can delegate the parts you’re not good at it frees up your time. If you want to know how to succeed in business delegate these little tasks like crazy.
So a good question may be what if it’s a “one off” task. Example, lets say it’s a powerpoint presentation that you just don’t have time for. This would be a perfect task to delegate. If you’re not brilliant at making powerpoint you have to figure out if it’s just worth finding someone else to do it.
Personally, in my business, anything that I’m below average in I delegate. After doing this for a while I noticed my business took off exponentially. So I got in a habit of doing this. I’m constantly outsourcing work to India, Pakistan, and Philippines. This is a great example of how to scale a business fast.
The habit of delegating will help your business grow. Lets face it. The things we don’t like doing we usually suck at it anyway. Delegate all these tasks. I always look at a task and say to myself. Am I good at it? Do I hate doing it? Nine times out of ten they usually coincide with one another. So I know exactly what I need to delegate.
Lets get back to the powerpoint example. I already know that I’m not great at powerpoint but I know a genius powerpoint designer. They know more stuff than I do and I’m not going to have to tell them what I need. They already know how to do this.
Another great example is video editing. If I need someone to take a bunch of my videos that I downloaded onto Youtube and make it into one seamless video I have know idea how to do that. I’m going to hire someone on Fiverr that knows how to make professional video. Maybe this is going to cost me $20 bucks. Money well spent to help create a successful business.
My point is, if you delegate to the right people you shouldn’t have to train them at all. They will just need the content and they will figure out the rest. Time to explode your business.
Two weeks ago I decided to start a Shopify store. From what I was told it’s kind of like setting up WordPress. I can tell you I hate doing anything that has to do with WordPress design. So why am I going to waste hours of my time trying to set up a Shopify store? I’m not brilliant at that so I’m paying someone.
I found someone on Fiverr who does this full time. He’s out of Pakistan. He charged me $45. Not only did he set up my store but he also downloaded a $106 dollar theme that I didn’t have to pay for and uploaded my first 20 products for free.
I can tell you this. When I logged into Shopify it was like reading another language. Ya I’m sure I could watch a ton of Youtube videos and bother all my friends on Skype asking a boat load of questions but I don’t have time for all that. Plus my friends would hate me. So instead of trying to figure it out over the next two or three months it was finished in basically two days for $50 bucks. Money VERY WELL spent!
Lets say you’ve just started your business over the last few months and you’re only familiar with email and connecting with people on Facebook. Lets say you spend hours every day trying to micro manage everything else. All the stuff you hate or probably not so great at. Things like graphics, videos, retargeting, follow up, banner ads, solo ads, blogging etc.
It’s time you start delegating some of these tasks to people that know how to create world class graphics or people that know how to make killer video. They will be telling you what you need to do. Does that make sense?
Now you understand how these unpleasant tasks ad up and just eat up your time. Now you need to figure out what tasks are worth delegating and why you need to find people that are brilliant at these tasks. Ideally, and I mean this, find people that are brilliant at these tasks. You can find them on Upworks and Fiverr. There are hundreds probably even thousands of people that are brilliant and skilled in different niches. I know because I hire them every single day. Here are some of the places you can find brilliant people to help make your business successful. I’m also going to add Pakistan to the list.
There are many people that don’t like internet marketing. So there are many people that delegate internet marketing to me because they know I’m brilliant at it and have been doing it for years. It’s very simple.
I have a friend that is a brilliant teacher, a brilliant sales person, and brilliant at designing educations programs through video. She has skills that I don’t have. I could never be as good as her at those things. But I know how to market her skills. So we partner up and leverage our skills. We partner with one another.
Becoming successful in business is really all about delegating and figure out how to work with smarter people in different areas. That’s how it works and that’s how partnerships works.
Some of the things you will want to retain to ensure you have a successful business are responsibility, leadership and relationships. Do what you love to do and what you’re brilliant at. Delegate everything else. This is how to make your business successful.
